Amla - Its Uses And Medicinal Benefits

The Indian Gooseberry Amla is a fruit and its juice have immense nutritional value and many health benefits. Botanically, this extremely sour little fruit is known as Emblica Officinalis. Though you may not find its taste appealing, don't be quick to dismiss it. Amla is a deciduous medium sized tree with edible fruit. The fruits are hard and spherical in shape with six vertical stripes or furrows. Amla fruit is fibrous and tastes slightly bitter, astringent and very sour. Amla can be consumed either as raw or its juice, powder, pickle and candy etc. The powder of the dried amla fruit is an efficient remedy of hyperacidity, ulcers and blood impurities.
